Federal Republic of Somalia or Somalia, is a country located in the Horn of Africa, at east of the African continent. It has a population of 10,428,043 people, growing at 1.75% per year, and only 37.8% of the population over age 15 are literate and 37.7% of the population lives in urban areas. The average age of the population is 17.7 years and the life expectancy is 51.58 years, one of the most small around the world.

Somalia maintains an informal economy largely based on livestock, remittance, money transfer companies, and telecommunications.

The agriculture is the most important sector with livestock normally accounting for about 40% of GDP and more than 50% of export earnings. Nomads and semi-pastoralists, who are dependent upon livestock for their livelihood, make up a large portion of the population.
